A vault per site
Details you mask on one site are now only restored on that same site.
Say a script at work won’t run, and you paste it into ChatGPT to ask why. There’s a password in it. Kamelo masks it as [SECRET_1] and keeps the real one in its vault, so the answer comes back readable.
An hour later you’re on a completely different website.
The problem
Until this update, Kamelo kept one vault for everything. Any website could ask Kamelo to restore placeholders, and read back details you had masked somewhere else. Like that password.
What changed
Now each site has its own part of the vault. A detail masked on chatgpt.com is only restored on chatgpt.com. The same detail on another site gets its own placeholder. Details masked before this update are only restored on known AI sites.
We closed two smaller gaps too. Copying text with your real details only happens during a real click or key press, which a website can’t fake. And a website can no longer fill the vault with junk or choose the text of Kamelo’s notice.
Also new
This month in the popup shows how many items Kamelo protected, and which kinds. It only counts, on your device: no values, no sites.
Sensitive topics get a calm notice. Some things can’t be swapped for a placeholder: your own health, mental health, sexuality, faith, money problems, or police and courts. When you share something like that, Kamelo suggests a temporary chat. Once per topic per page, in 82 languages. General questions, like the symptoms of diabetes, don’t trigger it.
Honest about limits
For sensitive topics, Kamelo can only point them out. What you send is still up to you. And this was one step in a longer job: 1.3.3 and 1.4.0 tighten the vault further.
What you tell one site stays with that site.
Since version 1.5.0, masking names and details is part of Kamelo Business. The free extension focuses on Melo, Kamelo’s private chat.
