Ask anything. Nothing leaves your laptop

Melo runs in Chrome on a computer, not on a phone or tablet yet. Open kamelo.eu/melo there.

A private chat, and a heads-up

Both come with the extension. Melo is where you ask. In the AI chats you already use, Kamelo tells you when a question gets personal.

In Chrome · free

A private chat for personal questions

Health, love, money: ask what you’d only ask a friend. Melo answers right on your laptop, without an account.

Chrome, Edge and Firefox · free

A heads-up in ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini

When a question there gets personal, Kamelo notices and offers Melo or a temporary chat. It doesn’t change or hide what you type.

In Edge and Firefox, Kamelo suggests a temporary chat. Melo needs Chrome.

Where does your question go?

Temporary chats differ per AI service; this is how ChatGPT handles them.

How Melo works

Open Melo from the toolbar, or try it online at kamelo.eu/melo. When Kamelo notices something personal on ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, it offers to move your question to Melo.

It stays on your computer

In Chrome, the AI that answers runs on your own computer. Your question isn’t sent anywhere: not to us, and not to an AI company.

What you need

  • Chrome on a computer: Windows 10 or 11, macOS 13 or newer, Linux or a Chromebook Plus. Not on a phone or tablet.
  • A graphics chip with more than 4 GB of video memory, or 16 GB of RAM and 4 CPU cores.
  • 22 GB of free space. The first time, Chrome downloads its AI: about 4 GB, once.

In Edge and Firefox, or on a computer that can’t run it, Kamelo suggests a temporary chat instead. Check this computer

What we can and can’t see

  • We never see your questions or the answers. They don’t leave your computer.
  • There’s no Kamelo server for Melo, so there’s nothing to log.
  • No account. Nothing is saved: the chat is gone when you close it.

The Melo app or Melo for your browser?

  • The Melo app answers on your own device. It gets to know you, and every chat is gone when you close it. It’s coming to Mac, with Apple’s AI: you need a Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 26.
  • Melo for your browser works in Chrome on Windows, Mac, Linux and Chromebook Plus. Nothing is saved: your chat is gone when you close it, and Kamelo gives you a heads-up in other AI chats. Its code is open source.

Melo Plus

Coming soon, €4.99 a month: a stronger AI, also in Edge, with documents, photos and voice. It all stays on your own computer.

Honest about limits

Melo uses the small AI that’s built into Chrome. It’s quick and private, but less capable than ChatGPT: for a hard question it can be wrong, so check what matters with someone you trust. It works in Chrome on computers that support it. Edge and Firefox don’t have this AI yet.
