Kamelo remembers names

Once Kamelo has masked a name, it now spots that name again, even when you write it differently.

Say you’re asking AI for advice about your sister. In your first message you write her full name: “My sister Emma de Vries is going through a divorce.” Kamelo turns her into [PERSON_1].

Ten minutes later you’re tired and typing fast: “emma says she can’t sleep.” Lowercase. First name only.

The problem

On its own, “emma” doesn’t look much like a name. That’s exactly the moment a detail can slip through: the very name you kept out a minute ago. And even when it’s caught, the AI needs to know that this is the same person, or its advice stops making sense.

What changed

Kamelo now remembers the names it has masked. Later it recognises them in other forms: in lowercase, just the first name or just the last name, in the next message or the next chat. They always get the same placeholder, so the AI can follow one person through a long conversation.

It also recognises company names by their legal form, such as Inc., Ltd, BV or GmbH.

Being careful matters as much as being thorough. Names that are also ordinary words, like Will, May or Mark, are only masked after a clear cue. So “Will you help me?” stays exactly as you wrote it.

You stay in charge

Everything Kamelo masked from memory is listed in the notice. Click a word to keep it visible: it goes on your Never protect list, and you can undo it right away.

One more small thing: when you press the copy button on an AI site, you now get the real names, not the placeholders.

Honest about limits

Kamelo can still miss a name, especially an unusual one it hasn’t seen before. A quick look before you send never hurts.

You write like a person. Now Kamelo keeps up.

Since version 1.5.0, masking names and details is part of Kamelo Business. The free extension focuses on Melo, Kamelo’s private chat.
