A new name: Kamelo

Kamelo has a new name and a new face: a blue chameleon. Here’s why.

Picture a chameleon on a branch. You could look right at it and not see it. It doesn’t hide behind anything. It just blends in.

That’s the kind of privacy we want for you. Not a big warning sign or a locked door, but your details passing by quietly, without standing out.

Why a chameleon

Kamelo comes from kameleon, Dutch for chameleon. A chameleon blends into its surroundings and doesn’t stand out. Your personal data should do the same.

That’s what a placeholder like [PERSON_1] does. To the AI it’s just part of the sentence. It can still help you, without the name.

Nothing to do

Until this update, Kamelo went by another name. Your settings and protected data carry over, so there’s nothing to do after the update. Just a new logo in your toolbar.

A notice that tells you more, with less

The notice you see after masking is shorter now: how many items were protected, and More info. That opens a panel with each item, what the AI sees instead, and a button to keep it visible, with undo.

Your real values stay blurred until you point at them or press the eye. Someone looking over your shoulder sees placeholders, not your details. The panel is light or dark, like the site you’re on.

This version also gets Kamelo ready for Microsoft Edge.

Honest about limits

A new name doesn’t make Kamelo perfect. It will sometimes miss something, or mask something it shouldn’t. Report a problem in the popup now opens an email with the site, Kamelo’s version and your browser filled in, nothing else, so you decide what to send.

New name, same job: helping your details blend in.
